Description
Salsa may have originated in the Caribbean, and is one of the most entertaining Latin dances today. It is regarded as the grandfather of ballroom or folk Latin dance. The roots of Latin dance trace back to the Incans and Aztecs, with group dancing as a fundamental element. European influence by settlers led to a couples dance routine. African influence led to more complex dance movements in the 1500s. Music became the tool that allowed the dance to vary from energetic step dancing to a more sensual series of movements.
The Salsa dance is depicted by this fractal abstract. The Salsa is social Latin dancing derived from Cuban folk dancing but is a mixture of differing styles. Different regions of Latin America and the USA have differing salsa dance styles but a syncopated rhythm is common to all.
