Description
Vesta was the Roman goddess of hearth, home and family. Vesta was one of the last pagan cults still active following the rise of Christianity. The Christian emperor Theodosius disbanded the cult in 391 AD.
The hearth and its warming fires is stylized in this fractal abstract. The multiple "eyes" in this figure suggest the close guardianship Vesta held over the Roman people. Vestalia has been considered as one of the most important Roman holidays.
