Large caverns in the Amazon and Indonesia are gigantic structures with multiple levels and often miles of underwater caverns and connections. This fractal abstract illustrates in a somewhat stylized fashion the multiple hidden layers or levels and the many twists and turns as explorers head deeper and deeper. The entrance at ground level is like a portal into a marvelous and mysterious world below.

Fractals! There is richness and wonder in endless repetition. The eye seems to hungrily seek out repeating patterns by instinct, while the mind assembles separate or even disparate pieces into a single cohesive whole. Fractal art spontaneously elicits a gratifying union of both processes. I create fractal art through a digital medium. I am drawn to making fractal images that evoke a sense of the familiar. The joy that comes from uncovering the “familiar” while transforming fractals can be intense, similar to the “eureka!” moment of an epiphany.
