This 12-panel kaleidoscopic mandala-like tile was created by kaleidoscopic transformation of a block created from the Morgan Fractals abstract Vortex-3 (Apophysis 7x). Then 8-, 12- and 16-panel transformations were explored for aesthetics through PaintShop kaleidoscopic software. The 12-panel created a tile closer to the mandala format. A series of 10 separate "K12" tiles were created and 4 of these are presented in this series (6,7,8,9). Consider a purchase of multiple tiles for a lovely cluster on your wall at home. Tile 8 has an evident radial (spoke) pattern when viewed from a distance. From an intermediate distance the intersecting spiral patterns are quite evident. Viewed close-up, the floret pattern tends to dominate. Quite an intriguing tile.
Fractals! There is richness and wonder in endless repetition. The eye seems to hungrily seek out repeating patterns by instinct, while the mind assembles separate or even disparate pieces into a single cohesive whole. Fractal art spontaneously elicits a gratifying union of both processes. I create fractal art through a digital medium. I am drawn to making fractal images that evoke a sense of the familiar. The joy that comes from uncovering the “familiar” while transforming fractals can be intense, similar to the “eureka!” moment of an epiphany. Many of my fractal designs are specifically created to mimic elements found in our daily lives. The most frequent themes of my work are candies, flora and fauna, machinery, and fanciful...
