Tangaroa Four is a collaborative fractal and graphic artwork by FAA artists Alan Bennington and Doug Morgan. Tangaroa is a fractal artwork (Doug Morgan) within the beautifully crafted and delicate brass medallion created by Alan Bennington.
Tangaroa is a Polynesian sea god and creator god. He is commonly held responsible for creation of all the oceans and seas and sea life. In Hawaiian beliefs, this primordial being assumed the form of a bird and laid an egg on the surface of primeval waters. When the egg broke open, the earth and sky were created. In Tahitian mythology, he fashioned the world inside a gigantic mussel shell.
