A fictional fractal forest is portrayed in this abstract. This balsam woods is shown in its full fall colors with a complex canopy soaring 100 meters above the ground. The lofty fractal trees and feathery fractal canopy are reminiscent of vinyl album covers of the rock band Yes in years past. Row after row of the these balsam giants create a magical kingdom not far from everyday life. Suitable for home or office. The fractal detail is a joyful treat to savor slowly with a close-up look.

Fractals! There is richness and wonder in endless repetition. The eye seems to hungrily seek out repeating patterns by instinct, while the mind assembles separate or even disparate pieces into a single cohesive whole. Fractal art spontaneously elicits a gratifying union of both processes. I create fractal art through a digital medium. I am drawn to making fractal images that evoke a sense of the familiar. The joy that comes from uncovering the “familiar” while transforming fractals can be intense, similar to the “eureka!” moment of an epiphany.
