Description
Merengue is a Dominican style of dance and music, and was born in the sugar beet fields where slave laborers chained together with only one leg free danced and sang. The cadence and rhythm is very characteristic but upper body movements have been influenced by the less rigid and more fluid Cuban dances in social dancing, and popularized by Dancing with the Stars, an American TV series of celebrity dance competitions. The dancers are to never release each other's grip, although sophisticated movements can result in "pretzling."

This fractal abstract tries to stylistically portray the tiny steps used by the dance partners, sideways and when circling the partner. This abstract is one in a series of fractal abstracts dealing with Latin dances.
